Hmm, an immigration thread would be interesting but I'll look up a few other events that must have occurred between the two and then we can rule out some events. I really just wanted to let you know that I am interested in threading with you.

I wouldn't mind doing an immigration thread! It's actually a really interesting issue in Japan. Before WW1 a lot of Japanese moved over to Brazil looking for work. The second and third generations are moving back to Japan now from Brazil, after being encouraged to return by the Japanese government.
They were expecting these Brazilian Japanese to return to Japan knowing Japanese and already be educated in the intricacies of Japanese culture. It was supposed to be soft immigration, but they were quick to find out that the Japanese Brazilians were for all purposes Brazilian.
They tend to do manual labour in Japan and unfortunately face some racism due to knowing very little Japanese or having an odd accent....
I'm not quite sure how we can roleplay this... maybe we can just assume it means that Japan and Brazil interact from time to time? It might be fun~

Right, I'll leave it to you to research then! I can think of Angra III too, which is a Nuclear power plant that was never really built and stirred quite the conflict between the two, but I'll leave you to research and do your thing, man.

We can rp it in many different ways... I'll list some ideas, and then you either pick one or give something of your own, but it's certain that Japan and Brazil talk to each other from time to time! Could be first-time, Japan's seen the Brazilian propaganda and goes to talk to him about beginning the immigration or about the most recent stuff, like, Luciano goes to ask Kiku why his people are suffering racism and all, and Kiku blames him on not keeping the traditions alive... Up to you, dear!

Hmmm. How about you make Japan participate in a carnival so that he can understand the returner's culture, atleast a little?
He doesn't mind dressing up too much so it could be fun?

I am thinking of a RP loosely based on this, before September 24, 1816. Luciano would personally come over as a messenger to Vienna to ask for a Habsburg princess (I assume it is very strategic for him to secure a Habsburg?) So aka Luciano's first meeting with European nations other than the usual colonial idiots, and Roderich's first meeting with a Latin American. I really am not sure of Brazil's history as an empire (it was basically ruled by Portuguese royal family, was it?), nor Roderich would know very much other than what appears on the surface (relations to Portugal. Not that Austria has a unique relationship with Portugal anyways).
If Luciano would come over, maybe we can start with Austrian court receiving a letter of its arrival, then Luci formally entering the court and looking around Vienna, then asking for a bride? xDD

I'm am so late, I'm sorry! But, yes, alright... Actually, in 1816, Brazil was still part of Portugal, as we only had our independence in 1822. In 1817, as we'd set the thread, things were very rough in Brazil, and quoting from my timeline:
So, you have a revolt right the year Luciano is visiting, despite him being "promoted" to United Kingdom — bullshit, actually, it didn't change this much, Scotland would know I guess. Luciano was pissed-off at Portugal, angry at its best and with a need for independence... We also have England's influence basically everywhere, but I'll include Arthur in "colonial idiots" for the sake of simplicity.
As for history of his empire... Ah, yes, Pedro I was portuguese, true, and we have lots of mixed feelings for him. His son, however, Pedro II, was Brazilian, born and bred (he was raised in Brazil, because his father had been sent back to Portugal, long story short, Pedrinho never had the old portuguese as much of a father figure. Well, Pedro II was crowned when he was 15, and let me tell you, it was awesome. He was brilliant and Luci is basically his fangirl, as much of the Brazilian population back then (actually even nowadays we still like him). Long story short: the Portuguese Pedro screwed up, the Brazilian Pedro ruled. Simple as that.
I'm down to Luciano going over to Austria, actually, I'm sure Portugal would have sent him even to diverge his focus from the Revolution going on during 1917. Now, I suppose marriage to a Hapsburg would've been more of a deal to the Bragança family rather than Brazil, or its furture Empire... I suppose by 1817 João VI would've warned Pedro of the possibility of declaring independence himself, instead of leaving it "to the hands of the people". I need to check my facts, I must say I don't know quite why a Hapsburg would've been interesting.
What I know is: Austrian court badmouthed Pedro I a lot, and quite a handful of austrians moved from their country to come live with Leopoldina in Brazil. They settled in a charming city called Petrópolis, which is why you can see their symbol even nowadays. Ask our local Tincho about it. Also, they had two marriages, unless wiki is lying to me, one in Vienna and one in Rio. Talk about need for a party! Guess that's... it? I rambled a lot, pardon, so tell me what you think.
