My Reflection
Nation:
D : Bundesrepublik Deutschland
E : Federal Republic of Germany
Name:
Ludwig Beilschmidt
Gender:
Male
Appearance Age:
22
Actual Age:
Since Holy Roman Empire: 1050
Since Unification: 141
Appearance
Hair Color:
Blonde
Eye Color:
Blue
Height:
188 cm
6'2
Weight:
215 pounds
Appearance:
Ludwig, for lack of better words, is an intimidating man with his six foot two height and incredibly muscular frame to accompany his impassive expression that most mistake for a scowl. His hair is always seen slicked back unless he’s just woken up and even then he doesn’t wait long to fix it to its usual well-kept style not liking the youthfulness his normal style gives him.
Ludwig likes to be well-dressed when he’s out and about and even more so when he’s at work. He may not give off that vibe but his entire youth, from what he can remember, and throughout his adolescences, it’s always been about image and that aspect about himself has just stuck to modern times. It also didn’t help that he was and is close friends with Italy who’s had some friendly pointers to his manner of dress.
His muscular build has everything to do with the fact that he has an almost unhealthy obsession with working out. He likes to keep himself as fit as possible without pushing his body to hard that he hurts himself. He wasn't always this strong and actually it took him quite a bit of time during his youth to reach this point but the dedication that came from starting so young has remained. And so he manages to maintain his fitness level with ease thanks to his strict regiment and strong economy.
Ludwig's facial features are all sharp lines giving him a very put together and almost handsomlely rugged look. There is no doubt about his gender since he lacks any soft curve that accompanies many of the other nations he associates with. The sharp lines add to his intimidating look but the few times his expression softens they highlight his features showcasing his good looks for once.
Defining Features:
Ludwig’s piercing blue eyes are one of his most defining features considering that for a nation who is viewed as young, because of his ambiguous past, his eyes reflect those of a nation who’s been alive a lot longer than given credit for.
There are several circular-like scars that are intricately placed on his back that come from the allied bombing at the end of World War II. They aren’t very noticeable at first but on closer inspection one can see that they follow an intricate design as if one were looking at a geographical map of Germany. The areas more heavily affected the more prominent the scar.
Ludwig’s sleeked back hair is one of his trademark features. He is rarely seen with his natural style for it gives him a youthful look and one he feels would not give him the respect he deserved.
Who Am I?
Personality:
Ludwig's personality is, in itself, very complicated in nature. There is what he portrays to the world outside and then there are his intricate thoughts that usually never come out verbally.
Inside his head, Ludwig can't help but store everything in it's proper order as if his brain was filled with thousands of tiny filing cabinets. In each drawer there is listed a fear or emotion that when all the filing cabinets are considered together create the man and nation known as Germany.
Germany is a driven and determined invdividual that will not stop until he achieves his goal no matter how difficult the task. He's very ressourceful and uses everything at his disposal to make ends meet.
He's also a very analytical individual using his common sense to drive him forward rather than his emotions. He doesn't like the uncertainty emotions bring up in a person but rather enjoys facts and topics that can be explained with concrete proof. Which explains how he excels in the sciences and maths rather than in subjects like art or drama.
However, no matter how composed Ludwig may seem there are many things that scare him such as the idea of becoming cruel. His fascination with war and war culture and the fact that he loves to strategize, taking on an even keener interest in chess after the Second World War to satisfy that thirst (as best as he can), puts him on edge. There is something about the thrill of battle that puts him on a high that has only vaguely been reproduced when he plays sports such as Football.
He has seen what a group of his people were capable of and, although that is in the past now, he can't help but wonder what would have happened to his sanity if the allies hadn't won.
However, on a general basis Ludwig is a fairly friendly individual enjoying the fact that other nations have taken interest in what his lands have to offer. Although, when nations begin to take advantage of his generosity that's when he draws the line and sets them straight.
Since he can remember Ludwig has always been a by the manual type of guy, following any type of instruction booklet/book/pdf that is presented to him. He follows the rules to a 'T' which comes off as, more than not, him being very strict. But what's the point of having rules if you aren't going to follow them. None, and so Ludwig keeps to them making sure that everyone else does as well.

Sample Post
Germany had watched them lay waste to his cities as bomb after bomb destroyed the many buildings that had meant something important to him. It was honestly not only seeing but feeling each impact, feeling the vibrations that followed the sharp intake of breath and blinding pain.
There was nothing left.
Only the rubble of what used to be several glorious cities. The heartache that he not only felt but the heartache that came from his people at such a blow.
The allies had not only won the war but destroyed all semblance of who he had been before the war.
The pride of being German was gone and it was something he suspected would not return to his devastated (and embarassed) people for many years to come. And at the moment nothing could repair what had been done. He knew it would only progressively worsen before they could even pick up any semblance of civilization.
Hitler had led them down a very dark path. But to say it was only Hilter would be a grave mistake because those who had joined his cause continued the spiral into oblivion. And all this while Ludwig watched from the sidelines, at first enchanted by the increase in employment and lowering of his debt and then horrified upon the realisation that a few pros had brought a bout so many cons.
Of course, he should have seen it considering he had gone to the beer halls to listen to this new voice that filled him with better possibilities from that of his former state. It had even blinded him to the more outrageous statements that seem to spew out from this rigid man. It was as if Hitler had cast a spell over him to assure that the German nation would only hear what he wanted him to hear.
It had worked...but, soon certain events began to unsettle him and by that point Hitler had already enraptured the entire nation inadvertently placing Ludwig in a difficult position.
This was all so very wrong...
And that was fact.
Nuremburg 1945
The city was a mess. It could vaguely be considered anything but a pile of rubble. However, even though the state of Nuremburg was pathetic, this is where the allies wanted to hold the trials against the Nazis. Fitting, the tall German thought as this location still held memory of the rally that had been pivotal to keeping the support of the citizens of Germany. The formations, the enthusiasm, the passion…and yet now that he thought about it how easily swayed his people could be but could he blame them. It had even marvelled him…nearly convinced him that their cause was just. That it was right and that everyone else knew nothing when it came to the betterment of the world. That was something Ludwig was ashamed of and would have to live with the reminder of what he had almost become. Perhaps in the future they wouldn’t be blamed for their decision in following such a monster so blindly but today, today was a completely different matter altogether. It was time for the truth to be set free.
Ludwig’s dull blue eyes spotted a woman straining to move some rubble from what, he assumed, used to be her home. It took him a moment to react but luckily for her he managed to make it to her side before she tumbled back and most likely injure herself. Strong arms took hold of the piece of rubble hefting it up and discarding it to the side before he gave the woman a sad smile that she returned. There was a silent understanding between the two and Ludwig found it oddly comforting to say the least. He spent a few more minutes helping her move larger pieces before he bid her farewell and continued his trek through the chaos. There were too many American’s loitering around it was painful to see but it got him thinking.
America was probably somewhere in the village looking for the building he would deem appropriate for the trials. The tall German knew for a fact that these trials would take months if not years to get through. There were too many crimes to try and on top of that there had never been laws put in place for international crisis such as this although in reality there should have been. The lawyers being assigned to this case would have to start from scratch. They would have to create stuff that could work in a legal case of this magnitude and Germany couldn’t help but be interested to see how it would play out.
Honestly, he wasn’t even sure what America was thinking letting him roam around so freely. What if he ran? What if he had truly agreed with the beliefs of the Nazi party? The young nation was being really risky but perhaps he really wasn’t. Germany would never run. He would face his punishment like a man and whatever is to be said at the trail he would have to live with it for the rest of his existence and that was a punishment far worse than being incarcerated or even killed.
